Trip to the Isle of Mull via Oban

After a pleasant breakfast together with the White family and after we had  arranged a stay there on our return journey we left the hospitable house and continued our travel towards the Western Islands. Today the weather was sunny and warm, too. The trip through the lovely landscape of the Trossachs was only interrupted by a short break at a farm with a souvenir shop and a pottery. Then we used the main route 85 along the waterside of the beautiful Loch Earn and then via Glen Dochart and Glen Lochy to Oban.

In Oban it was very hot (the sun was shining without compassion) and the town by itself is a little bit complex. After some confusions we found the public car park and then we walked along the main street and the waterside road into the city. There we took a look at the schedule of the ferry to the Isle of Mull, bought the tickets and asked for the way to the ferry port.  We did not visit the "Oban Sea Life Center" again which is really worth to see (see: Urlaub 1993) and it was also too sunny for the way up to the McCaig's Folly. So we bought some food and then we drove to the ferry port.

Just now we were starting to the highlight of the day. Leaving Oban with the ferry allows you a beautiful view backwards to the town and the Highlands. The view to Duart castle lying in a slightly frog over the water at the entrance to the Sound of Mull was very romantic. But the following tour over the Isle of Mull increased our enthusiasm furthermore. We were fascinated mostly from the countless kinds of the color green and the absolutely loneliness and isolation in the valleys on the isle. Today the destination was a camp site in Fidden near by Fionnphort. Because the campground is located at a farmers land directly at the coast we where able to set up our tent at the first dune. And so we enjoyed our lunch in front of the tent with a fantastic view over the sea, the sunset and some small rocks as you can see on the photo.
